Squeezed between rising costs of their products and decreasing commercial prices to stay competitive, our client was looking for a competitive advantage in managing cost.
The goal was to enhance employee knowledge in strategic cost management techniques. In addition, it was important that employees have practice and support to implement the use of their newly acquired understanding of cost.
The Anklesaria Group was asked to educate the supply chain and procurement teams around the world, conduct coaching session workshops for participants to practice the techniques, and to assist in the creation of an internal intelligence cell to support stakeholders with market intelligence, cost modeling, and coaching.
Approach
Anklesaria conducted a Strategic Cost Management seminar for over 200 of the client’s supply chain and procurement professionals. The courses took place all over the globe to best accommodate the locations each participant was located in. Immediately after each 2-day educational seminar, Anklesaria facilitated a 1-day coaching session in which participants could apply the newly introduced concepts and tools to a project they were working on at the time – practical application.
In addition to education, Anklesaria worked collaboratively with a manager whose job was to lead a newly formed Market Intelligence team. Anklesaria advised on the general structure of the team, job qualifications for team members, education of team members, and key tools the team would need to succeed in supporting their internal stakeholders (who were being educated on the techniques around the globe).
Key tools included: data sources, cost model templates, market intelligence templates, and a structure for how to deliver the services to their stakeholders.
Impact
The impact that Anklesaria had on the client was an increase in cost awareness seen through educating 200+ procurement professionals in world class strategic cost management techniques, practical application for the 200+ participants, and the creation of a Market Intelligence team that grew from 3 to 9 members that supported categories around the world.
Over a three year period, the Market Intelligence team routinely saved 5-6% per project they were involved in, some projects saving in upwards of 30-40%. In addition, requests for their services from their stakeholders increased exponentially. The Market Intelligence team was defined as a key VALUE ADD by top executives in the company.
