Through supplier perception surveys designed and conducted by Anklesaria a leading consumer foods company was able to create better communication with its suppliers.
Opportunity
Our client is a leading consumer foods company in the United States. The company was interested in improving its supplier relationship management program and its key suppliers perception of the company. The client needed to understand what areas the procurement organization was lacking in terms of supplier satisfaction and how to fill these gaps in order to be a best-in-class customer to the suppliers.
Anklesaria was tasked with developing a plan and defining a strategy to improve the suppliers’ perception of the consumer foods company. A key goal was for Anklesaria to assess the situation and help the client build stronger relationships between the client’s procurement team and each its vendors.
Approach
Anklesaria created a supplier perception survey that included 9 key areas covering various aspects of doing business with the company. Once the specific survey for the client was created, Anklesaria distributed it to 200 suppliers and monitored the survey process from distribution to collection of the data. After collecting the raw data, different forms of analysis were conducted to draw accurate conclusions on the suppliers’ perception of the client. A presentation was then made to the company, along with delivering a detailed report on the findings and recommended changes the company should implement going forward.
The Anklesaria Group played a key role in helping the client become best-in-class from the suppliers’ point of view by conducting the survey and giving the client a road-map that focused on techniques and tools to help the client develop stronger and better relationships going forward.

The supplier survey exercise built up better morale amongst suppliers by giving them an avenue to voice their opinions. At the same time, the exercise created better dialogue and communication between the suppliers and client. The client was able to implement the recommendations given by Anklesaria and realize cost savings through building better KPI’s, better ways of conducting negotiations and more robust supplier development initiatives.
